The Art of Happiness then does not draw on religious beliefs or absolute truths, but it is the conquest and exercise of a daily practice, difficult but possible to know yourself, understand the arguments of others, open to look at things differently and new way.
In a word, to rediscover the human quality par excellence and compassion. Teaching us to turn adversity into opportunities to achieve a stable and deep inner peace, the Dalai Lama shows us how to overcome this anxiety, insecurity, anger and despair, to live better with themselves and with others.
Know yourself, check the destructive emotions, overcome selfishness to reach out to others through personal daily exercise compassion here indicates the precepts of Buddhism as the essential ingredients for life happier.
But this is really a viable option for us Westerners, constantly directed to ways of life all focused on competition and success? How can we reconcile the path suggested by the wisdom of the East to reach the inner happiness with the complexity of the challenges that the company offers us every day?
Directs the work, for better or for worse, the lives of us all, committed much of our energies, to some extent define our identities.
How, then, to enjoy an important aspect of our lives?
To these questions the Dalai Lama gives realistic answers, accompanied by concrete examples, making this book an invaluable tool of strength and serenity for all.
"We do not need more money, more fame and more success, or a perfect body or a partner, at any time of life, including the present one, we have a mind, the only indispensable to the attainment of true happiness"
An effective way to combat anxiety is worry less about themselves and more than others. When you really understand the difficulties of others, we lose their importance.
There are only two days a year in which you can not do anything: one is called today, the other is called tomorrow, so today is the day to love, believe, do and, mainly, to live
But I think that, little by little, we can make positive changes.Every day, when we get up, try to steer our good intentions, thinking I will live this day in a more positive manner. I must not waste it.
All living creatures, from insects, they want to be happy and do not want to suffer. However, while each of us is an individual, the others are infinite in number. It clearly follows that the happiness of others is more important than your own.
