IL PRESIDENTE MBALAX

In questi giorni in Senegal l'argomento che tiene banco un po' dappertutto sono le imminenti elezioni presidenziali del prossimo 26 febbraio 2012. La Corte Costituzionale non si è ancora espressa in merito alla possibilità di candidarsi per un terzo mandato dell'attuale presidente della repubblica Wade, l'odiato padre padrone dal 2000 in Senegal. Questo lungo stallo ha prodotto diverse conseguenze. I partiti d'opposizione, che alle scorse elezioni amministrative avevano sbaragliato il partito di governo vincendo in quasi tutti i distretti elettorali, si sono frammentati in mille correnti in seguito alle lotte intestine innescate nel tentativo di imporre la propria leadership. L'ultimo esempio di questo dissanguamento è accaduto in giornata dopo la conferenza stampa della principale coalizione d'opposizione Benno Sigil Senegal dove l'annuncio della designazione di Niasse come candidato presidente alle elezioni ha immediatamente provocato l'uscita dalla coalizione dell'influente Partito Socialista.

Mentre i partiti tradizionali continuano a litigare e a dividersi, sabato scorso (26 novembre)  Youssou N'dour, il celebre cantante senegalese famoso in tutto il mondo, durante un incontro pubblico per l'inaugurazione della sede del suo movimento Fékkéé Ma ci Boolé nel quartiere di Medina in centro a Dakar ha fatto intendere che potrebbe presentare la sua candidatura alla carica di presidente.

La notizia ha subito scatenato dure prese di posizione da parte del mondo della politica, preoccupati dall'eventualità di competere con un multimiliardario proprietario di una radio, di un giornale e di una televisione privata con interessi e partecipazioni economiche in svariate imprese nazionali e internazionali estremamente popolare e amato, apparentemente un outsider nello scenario politico senegalese.

Sottolineo apparentemente perché da anni Youssou N'dour occupa la scena pubblica con una commistione di attività sociali (campagne di sensibilizzazione per la malaria e per il microcredito solo per citare quelle più note) e affari economici estesi e ben ramificati nell'economia del paese.

Furbescamente Youssou N'dour ha lanciato una grossa esca. Per il momento ha precisato che fino al primo gennaio 2012 si occuperà dei suoi impegni di cantante imprenditore. Il giorno dopo (il 2/1/2012) ha promesso che annuncerà pubblicamente cosa intende fare, se candidarsi direttamente o quale candidato appoggiare. E' più che evidente che il suo movimento Fékkéé Ma ci Boolé, nato apposta  in fretta e furia, avrà un mese di tempo per sondare l'opinione pubblica e capire quante chance ha il re della mbalax (il genere musicale senegalese reso celebre in tutto il mondo dall'artista) come candidato alle presidenziali.

Poche, mi dicono tutti i senegalesi maschi con cui ho parlato negli ultimi giorni. Tra questi, in particolare Babacar, Samba e Aliou si inalberano sdegnati se insisto a chiedere quante possibilità hanno di avere un presidente cantante miliardario proprietario di radio, tv e giornali. “Non siamo mica italiani” mi rispondono stizziti “Youssou n'dour sarà anche ricco, canterà anche bene ma non ha nessun programma politico. E' un opportunista che si sta facendo pubblicità. Magari appoggerà qualcuno ma non si presenterà direttamente. La politica è una cosa seria” concludono.

L'ultima affermazione può sembrare un po' azzardata, da oltre 10 anni Wade e le sua famiglia stanno facendo i loro interessi mettendo in ginocchio il paese. Ma Babacar e Samba hanno preso parte al movimento M23 giugno quando tutto il Senegal è insorto contro la proposta di legge per l'introduzione della carica di Vicepresidente della Repubblica, e da allora sembra che l'aria che si respira sia diversa, meno arrendevole.

Più speranzose e possibiliste alcune donne senegalesi, Astou, Fatou e Fatima tagliano corto le mie domande con un preoccupante “Se si candida lo voto. E' pur sempre una persona nuova nella politica che potrebbe portare un cambiamento nel paese”.

Il vuoto dell'opposizione frantumata verrà occupato dalle percussioni di Youssou N'dour? E' presto per dirlo.

Un altro cantante famoso anni fa e un po' in declino negli ultimi tempi ma ancora molto amato dagli studenti, Omar Pene, ha saggiamente dichiarato pubblicamente “Aspettiamo la decisione della Corte Costituzionale”.

Se Wade riuscisse a candidarsi per il terzo mandato la rabbia esploderebbe incontrollabile. Diversamente nessuno riesce ad immaginare cosa potrebbe arrivare a fare il vecchio presidente in carica per continuare a restare nel palazzo del potere.
